GUEST GALLERY 4

WE WELCOME OUR GUEST FROM FINLAND JUHA LIIMATAINEN

I´ve been working as a professional photographer for 20 years and since 1990 I´ve had a small studio and shop in Viitasaari, which is located in central part of Finland, about 400 km north of Helsinki. Studio portrait photography is quite demanding and I think nature photography is an excellent way to calm down after hectic studio sessions. One might think if it is rational to have photography as a hobby when you do it for a living but in my opinion the only thing in common with studio and nature photgraphy is the camera.

I shoot with Nikon D3 and D2x bodies, a dozen of Nikkor lenses from 14/2.8 to 200-400/4VR. I also have several Nikon flashes including a wireless macro flash R1C1.

I consider myself to be a typical Finnish nature photgrapher, we shoot nature as it is and try to keep the images as authenthic as possible. In fact I shoot digital the same way I shot slides, exposing and cropping the images "in the camera". The only post-processing is minor tweaking of sharpness, contrast or colours and removing sensor dust.
