The Release Photo Group first saw the light of day one night in April 2009, in a public house somewhere near Croydon,
South London. Three men with similar ideas and outlooks (cough!); talking photography. After a long discussion over a half
pint each it was decided that we should go on an outing and take some photographs, some of which we might allow to be "nice" as
long as we try to avoid all those inviting "camera ready" subjects but, most importantly, have fun. Somewhat later, over another half pint, the Release Group was well and truly born; a vehicle for our own artistic endeavours but also a means of encouraging the best in interesting and original photography from like-minded souls. Since that time we have gone from strength to strength. Several further outings have resulted in interesting and occasionally memorable images. In addition, this Release website has attracted much interest from our ever growing community of contributors.
Although membership of the group has changed with the departure of Tom (to pursue his
own photographic interests) and the arrival of Mike, these "noble" objectives remain.
